Dragon Ball 5 Fights Gohan Shouldve Won (& 5 He Deserved To Lose)

Gohan is one of the strongest mortals in Dragon Ball and when he is at his best, there is no stopping him.

Gohan has to be one of the most misused characters an anime has ever seen. In the Cell arc of Dragon Ball Z, it looked like he was about to take the mantle from his father of becoming the face of the franchise but for some reason, he suffered an incredible fall from glory in the Majin Buu arc that has continued in Dragon Ball Super.

Since he was a kid, Gohan has seen enough fights to last two lifetimes, let alone one. Gohan is one of the strongest mortals in Dragon Ball and when he is at his best, there is no stopping him.

10 Should've Won: Against Dabura

By the time Dabura and Babidi landed on Earth, Gohan had already lost most of the power that he showed against Perfect Cell. But since Dabura was just about on Cell's level, he shouldn't have been much trouble for Gohan. It served as a perfect wake up call for the Golden Warrior when he struggled to beat the King of Demons when he would have done if he was a kid. He dropped off massively during his teenage days.

9 Deserved To Lose: Against Frieza

Frieza seemed like an unbeatable monster once he assumed his second form. When someone like Vegeta was afraid of facing the Evil Emperor, fans knew how tough it would be for Goku to beat him. But Gohan gave a very decent fight to Frieza, even managing to use a rage boost to his advantage before Frieza took control of the fight.

8 Should've Won: Against Shisami

Resurrection F wasn't kind to Gohan. All his nightmares flashed in front of him when he faced the Frieza Force without any proper training. Shisami, in all honesty, shouldn't be a problem for Goten, let alone Gohan.

Gohan saw himself struggle against Shisami as he couldn't keep up with the physicality and the intensity.

7 Deserved To Lose: Against Fat Buu

The original Majin Buu that first came to Earth didn't look like a fighter, instead, he looked like a child who just wanted chocolates. Despite his unassuming appearance, Buu immediately countered Gohan and Kaioshin's best efforts to stop him. To be fair, Fat Buu had a field day with the rest of the Dragon Team as well. So much so that he survived an energy blast so big that it vaporized Vegeta.

6 Should've Won: Against Ginyu

After the disastrous outing against Shisami, fans thought maybe Gohan learned his lesson but Saiyans can be very stubborn. A returning Captain Ginyu who hadn't trained for years was giving Gohan a run for his money. Gohan shouldn't have waited so long to turn Super Saiyan, and when he finally did, Frieza put a beam through him, almost killing him in the process.

5 Deserved To Lose: Against Buutenks

When Super Buu absorbed Gotenks, he became Buutenks. It is one of the strongest forms of Majin Buu and as soon as he transformed, he looked unstoppable. Gohan couldn't do anything but keep on the defensive. Despite common misconception, Gohan doesn't actually let Majin Buu transform. He wants to defeat Buu right away, but Gotenks falls for Majin Buu's bluff and fuse before Gohan can realize Buu plans to absorb them (something no one could have even accounted for.)

4 Should've Won: Against Lavender

Lavender was a being from Universe 9 who battled Gohan in the exhibition match for the Tournament of Power. Gohan was expected to fight cautiously, but he was having none of it.

He attacked from the get-go only to get blinded when Lavender used his power. Nevertheless, Gohan used his Saiyan senses to be in the game and he almost pulled off a win before the match ended in a draw.

3 Deserved To Lose: Against Dyspo

Gohan, for the first time in a long while, stepped up to be counted against Dyspo. One of the members of the Pride Troopers, Dyspo is one of the fastest characters the anime has ever seen. Combine that with his incredible strength, and there's a warrior who can win most of his battles. He pushed Gohan to his very limit but when he came close to eliminating him, Gohan made sure he took Dyspo with him.

2 Should've Won: Against Super Buu

After having his Ultimate potential unlocked by the Rou Kaioshin, Gohan heads over to Earth to defeat Majin Buu. He immediately gives Super Buu the beating of his life, ready to kill him on the spot. Unlike the fight against Cell, Gohan doesn't hesitate in his want to defeat Buu. Instead, Majin Buu blows himself up to escape – intending to absorb Gotenks once they can fuse again. If Gohan had the opportunity, he would have been able to defeat Super Buu.

1 Deserved To Lose: Against Toppo

Facing Toppo was going to be a daunting task for Gohan. This Pride Trooper has power comparable to a God of Destruction, so one can imagine why Gohan decided to have a go at him with the proper backup of Android 17. They fought together but were unable to cause any real damage. The move almost backfired when Android 17 was about to be eliminated but Gohan was there to save the day. Gohan was thoroughly outclassed by Toppo.
