Dragon Ball 5 DC Characters That Would Be Great Z Fighters (& 5 That Wouldnt Make The Cut)

Which of DC’s biggest names would make the most capable Z Fighters, and which would fizzle out?

The Dragon Ball series is known to have some of fiction’s most powerful and popular characters. The premier team is Earth-based Z Fighters, a group comprising the mightiest warriors that take on any threats to their universe. Their job is not easy, and the responsibility alone can break the will of many who claim to be heroes.

It’s reminiscent of the DC Universe’s heroics (Especially the JLA), but the concepts that rule Dragon Ball’s universe could leave some DC characters susceptible to failure. Which of DC’s biggest names would make the most capable Z Fighters, and whom would fizzle out?

10 Z-Pick: Batman — He already knows over 100 forms of martial arts, so it would be child’s play to master the Kame Style that Master Roshi teaches

The Dark Knight Detective is one of Earth’s greatest martial artists and strategists. Although “only” human, Batman has faced and defeated foes capable of leveling planets with only his skills and cunning. If transported to the Dragon Ball universe, Batman would become an adept Z-Fighter. He already knows over 100 forms of martial arts, so it would be child’s play to master the Kame Style that Master Roshi teaches.

Batman has also shown to be excellent with meditation and channeling chi. Bruce's sneakiness and strategic mind would allow him to be as capable a fighter as Piccolo.

9 Drop-Out: Cyborg — he lacks in two key areas: Chi utilization & martial arts ability

Cyborg is a powerful superhero in his own right. He has the durability and firepower of a futuristic tank. Dragon Ball is no stranger to cyborgs (think Androids 17 and 18), but DC’s hero lacks in two key areas: Chi utilization and martial arts ability. The androids on Dragon Ball’s Earth have inexhaustible energy.

DC’s Cyborg isn’t that robust. He would be a great asset against mechanical enemies, but the fact that his energy is finite and his power set isn’t very diverse leads to the conclusion that Cyborg wouldn’t be much help overall. His genius intellect would be better served at Capsule Corp.

8 Z-Pick: Karate Kid — His chi manipulation is first-rate & he has the innate ability to pinpoint the weakest spot in any person or object

DC’s Karate Kid (Real name: Val Armorr) is regarded as the greatest martial artist to ever live. He has mastered virtually every known Earth-based martial art known in the 31st century. His skills border on the superhuman. If his abilities were translated into the Dragon Ball universe, Val would already be the strongest human, by far.

His chi manipulation is first-rate, and he has the innate ability to pinpoint the weakest spot in any person or object. In Dragon Ball, Karate Kid would be a frequent sparring partner of Goku with the hopes of one day learning everything he knows. Could a human surpass a Saiyan?

7 Drop-Out: Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) — his ring has a finite charge & He’s also prone to maniac behavior

Hal Jordan is one of the most powerful and legendary Green Lanterns in history. Through sheer will, Hal has remade entire cities and staved off galaxy-destroying attacks. His power ring is considered the most potent weapon in all of DC’s universe. But the ring has a finite charge, and it can only be recharged by a conduit connected to the Universe’s central power supply. All of that would need to be added along with Green Lantern to keep him useful.

Hal would also have to constantly maintain the willpower to be effective. He’s also prone to maniac behavior. These limitations and setbacks make Green Lantern ill-equipped to be a steady, capable Z Fighter.

6 Z-Pick: Wonder Woman — she is gifted with magical abilities & enchanted equipment that could contend with anything Dragon Ball throws at her

Princess Diana of Themyscira is an Amazonian Warrior-Goddess of the highest order. She spent countless centuries honing her warrior skills. She would be excellent with Dragon Ball’s Z Fighters because her personality and abilities allow her to fit right in.

While Diana isn’t known to manipulate her ki very often, she is gifted with magical abilities and enchanted equipment that could contend with anything Dragon Ball throws at her. She’s super-strong, super-tough, can fly, and is blazingly fast. She also has an indestructible shield, sword, lasso, and bracelets. And she loves to fight. It’s possible that Wonder Woman could end up leading the Z Fighters into most battles.

5 Drop-Out: Aquaman — his powers are based on his connection to water, a limitation that could be fatal

Arthur Curry is the Superman of the sea. He is very tough and incredibly strong. He is a trained Atlantean warrior with weapons capable of leveling mountains. Not only that, but he has an innate connection to marine life that allows him to communicate telepathically with them. He has used this ability in his efforts to defeat various villains.

The problem with Aquaman and the Z Fighters is that his powers are based on his connection to water. That is a limitation that could be fatal if Aquaman was fighting somewhere away from the sea for an extended period of time.

4 Z-Pick: Flash — Despite the extreme velocities that the Z Fighters regularly traverse, The Flash would outpace them all

The Flash is touted as the fastest man alive. His connection to the speed force allows him to move at speeds exceeding that of light. This connection also grants him an accelerated healing factor, enhanced durability, and the power to land blows with the power of a star. Despite the extreme velocities that the Z Fighters regularly traverse, The Flash would outpace them all.

The Flash is probably the only person who doesn’t have to fly or know martial arts to be an effective, if not dominant, member of the Z Team. Plus, he could hold his own in an eating contest with Goku and Vegeta.

3 Drop-Out: Beast Boy — the animals he turns into aren’t fast enough or strong enough to compete with the villains that the Z Fighters regularly face

Garfield Logan, also known as Beast Boy, has a rather unique power. He can transform into any animal that he has seen or can think of, and has the physical abilities associated with that creature. He can accomplish this with humans and humanoid aliens as well, but it’s currently unknown if he could mimic magical or superhuman powers.

Beast Boy is also a very proficient hand-to-hand combatant, and he possesses an accelerated healing factor, but the animals he turns into aren’t fast enough or strong enough to compete with the villains that the Z Fighters regularly face. Even with his powers, he’s just not good enough.

2 Z-Pick: Superman — His power set is legendary: Super-speed, super-strength, invulnerability, flight, freeze breath, x-ray, & heat vision

If there was one DC character that would absolutely win at being a Z Fighter, it would be Superman. His power set is legendary and iconic. Super-speed, super-strength, invulnerability, flight, freeze breath, x-ray, and heat vision… Superman is the standard that all heroes are held to. He doesn’t need ki since he has the sun.

He’s also proficient in ancient Kryptonian martial arts. However, he’s not an enthusiastic fighter. This wouldn’t stop him from engaging any villain fool enough to threaten Earth (or the universe). And, while Superman isn’t keen on fighting for fighting’s sake, he’s more than happy to train. Goku would love that.

1 Drop-Out: Green Arrow — Green Arrow without arrows is just a sitting duck

Oliver Queen is an excellent hand-to-hand fighter and a superb marksman. His archery skills and arrow set are legendary. He has learned from some of the greatest masters on DC’s Earth. It isn’t a stretch to say that Green Arrow could make an excellent student for Dragon Ball’s Master Roshi, but the problem is with his reliance on conventional weapons. Namely, his bow and arrows.

While his varied arsenal has taken down many superior foes, its limited capacity would put him in immediate danger as soon as his quiver inevitably runs dry. Green Arrow without arrows is just a sitting duck.
