Dragon Ball 5 Couples That Are Perfect Together (& 5 That Make No Sense)
Though the Dragon Ball series is not typically considered to be a romantic piece of media, it does not mean that love was absent entirely.

Though very few people would ever consider the media that comprises the Dragon Ball series to be primarily romantic, it is important to note that romance was not left out of the series entirely.
While Dragon Ball is definitely no shoujo, many of its characters are in stable relationships, but while some of these relationships are matches made in heaven, others would have been best left out of the series altogether. Below, we've listed just a few of these amazing relationships, followed by some that we just try our best not to think too hard about.
10 Perfect Together: Bardock and Gine

Shown briefly in the film Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Bardock and Gine, Goku's parents, were the epitome of an amazing relationship. Not only did the two mutually respect and care for one another, but they made the decision as a unit to send Goku to live on a faraway planet so that he wouldn't have to perish at Frieza's hands, showing that they were a team as much as they were lovers.
While we know that Goku's Saiyan programming was erased after a hard bump to the head during his infancy, it makes sense that such a pure-hearted warrior would be born to such compassionate and selfless Saiyans. Our only regret is that we never saw them fighting together.
9 Makes No Sense: Krillin and Maron

Fans have been baffled for years as to how Krillin ended up with Maron. Maron is focused on physical appearances more than anything, not to mention the fact that she's so much taller than Krillin. A fact that would not present an issue in most relationships but could be a roadblock for a more superficial character.
We're amazed that Krillin wanted to marry her at all, since he was never treated as an equal member in their partnership and was often reduced to a personal assistant during her many shopping sprees.
8 Perfect Together: Yamcha and Bulma

During the original hunt for the Dragon Balls, Bulma wanted to ask Shenron for the perfect boyfriend. Yamcha, on the other hand, wanted to ask the dragon to erase his fear of women so that he could actually procure a girlfriend for himself.
It wasn't until after Oolong wasted the first wish in the franchise on a pair of underwear that Bulma realized that Yamcha checked all of her boxes, while Yamcha realized that his frequent interactions with Bulma and other women over the course of their adventure made his shyness around them a thing of the past. While their relationship ended on bad terms on account of Yamcha's infidelity, they were perfect for one another at the time.
7 Makes No Sense: Trunks and Mai

In no way are we saying that Trunks and Mai are a terrible couple. Fans found it inspiring that these two managed to find love despite living in a world ravaged by Goku Black. Still, the more we think about their relationship, the more odd it seems. After seeing this young adult version of Mai, it's easy to forget how old she actually is.
Mai was already a grown woman back in the days of Dragon Ball when Goku was just a young boy, but a wish gone wrong with the Dragon Balls turned her into a child. In dating Trunks, she's essentially dating a boy who could've been the age of her son if she had one! We don't even want to think of the technical crime Mai is committing by dating someone so young, even if she did get turned back into a child. From the moment she fired a loaded weapon at Gohan during Bulma's birthday party in Battle of Gods, it was clear that her adult mentality remained.
6 Perfect Together: Dr. Brief and Panchy

While Dr. Brief is nothing short of a genius, assisting in the development of gravity chambers strong enough to withstand Vegeta's intense training regimen, he shares much in common with his wife's jovial, carefree disposition. Despite the constant threats to the Earth, these two are never worried, even opting to remain at home during Majin Buu's destructive rampage across the planet.
Nothing really gets under their skin or surprises them, and they're welcoming to just about anyone who comes to their door, including genocidal alien warriors like Vegeta.
5 Makes No Sense: Tarble and Gure

After learning that Vegeta had a younger brother, fans were thrown for another big shock upon learning that Tarble had a wife, who looked more like a child than anything! Not only were we wondering where the physical attraction could've lied for both partners, but with the revelation in Dragon Ball Super that Saiyans are naturally attracted to strong-willed women, we were left wondering what about Gure's personality appealed to Tarble's natural Saiyan preferences.
Hopefully, they make a reappearance in an upcoming Dragon Ball Super arc, because we're dying to know how their children would look.
4 Perfect Together: Vegeta and Bulma

While it got off to a rocky start, Vegeta and Bulma's relationship has evolved into something truly beautiful. Originally, Vegeta saw Bulma as no more than a servant woman, but now, he fights for the sole purpose of protecting her and their growing family. Bulma's also been shown to provide Vegeta with so much; she's not only improved his Saiyan battle armor, but she's also created gravity chambers to aid him in his training endeavors.
Vegeta's only gotten better as a result of his relationship with Bulma, while overcoming Vegeta's cold disposition has made Bulma truly fearless.
3 Makes No Sense: Goku and Chi-Chi

Out of any other couple on this list, Goku and Chi-Chi have known each other for the longest, having met as children back in Dragon Ball. Still, fans are constantly left doubting the legitimacy of their relationship. Throughout his years of training as a young boy, Goku didn't even give Chi-Chi a second thought until their reunion at the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament.
When Goku agreed to marry her after their match, he didn't understand what kind of commitment he was making, which is why he continuously acts on his own interests instead of catering to Chi-Chi once in awhile.
2 Perfect Together: Gohan and Videl

Beginning as high school sweethearts, Videl stuck with Gohan despite all of his quirks, from learning about his alternate persona of the Great Saiyaman to finding out that he was actually a member of a powerful warrior race.
After Videl gave birth to their first child, Pan, their relationship got even stronger, with Videl wholeheartedly trusting Gohan over anyone else.
1 Makes No Sense: Krillin and Android 18

After seeing Krillin's dysfunctional relationship with Maron, fans doubted if he'd ever get a girl of his own, but for some strange reason, he was able to charm his way into Android 18's heart. Still, it never made too much sense that she decided to kiss him after she and her brother knocked out most of the other Z Fighters. Sure, she may have always found him physically attractive, but at that point, her only goal was to kill Goku and anyone else who stood in her way.
It's a good thing the series decided to skip showing us how exactly Krillin managed to woo Android 18 following the Cell Games, because anything Toriyama could've written would've been unbelievable.
