Dragon Ball 5 Characters Gohan Would Love To Teamup With (& 5 He Never Would)
Gohan has made plenty of friends & enemies throughout the course of the Dragon Ball franchise. Which fighters would he be willing to partner up with?

There are a lot of anime from the past few decades that feature both exceptional stories and incredibly powerful characters. Despite the many new anime that come and go, Dragon Ball is a series that’s arguably just as popular now as it was when it debuted back in the 1980s.
The anime centers around Goku, but it’s also full of lots of other important and powerful characters, like the protagonist's son, Gohan. Dragon Ball’s relationship with Gohan has been complicated, which speaks even more to his selective nature regarding teammates. Gohan isn’t always in battle, but when he is, he plays a lot of his discretion in terms of who he will and won’t let fight by his side.
10 WOULD LOVE TO: Goten

There have been plenty of opportunities throughout Dragon Ball where Gohan has not only worked alongside his father but also surpassed him at certain points in time. As a result, it often feels like Goku’s other son, Goten, can get lost in the shuffle. It’s for this reason that he would be the perfect character for Gohan to take under his wing and try to impart some lasting wisdom on his younger brother. Goten already has such strength at a young age that he could likely match Gohan’s power without much difficulty.
9 WOULD NEVER: Raditz

There are a lot of villains who have returned in Dragon Ball and haven’t let something like death get in the way of revenge. Curiously, Raditz is the first big villain in Dragon Ball Z, only to be a Saiyan that’s never really returned or offered a chance for redemption. As a result of this, Raditz is defined as an unwavering villain. In addition, Raditz actually kills Gohan’s father for the first time and unlocks Gohan’s hidden rage. With all of that in mind, Raditz is clearly a character who’s at odds with Gohan and not fit to be his partner.
8 WOULD LOVE TO: Master Roshi

Master Roshi is a beloved fixture in the original Dragon Ball series. Even though he slowly recedes into the background, he still gets to play an important part in Dragon Ball Super’s Tournament of Power and briefly get to shine again.
Master Roshi is responsible for training characters like Goku and Krillin, and even though Gohan utilizes many of Roshi’s teachings like the Kamehameha, they’ve never formally trained together. There’s such history and familiarity between Master Roshi and Gohan’s family that this just feels like a pairing that would work.
7 WOULD NEVER: Frieza

Out of all of the many villains who have appeared throughout Dragon Ball, Frieza has certainly gone on to become the most notorious and popular of the lot. Frieza is an awful tyrant who’s responsible for the loss of thousands of innocent lives and the genocide of Gohan’s Saiyan race. Goku and Vegeta both have personal grudges against Frieza, but they’ve been able to swallow their pride on certain occasions. Gohan has seen this monster hurt so many of his loved ones, including himself, that an amicable grouping between them seems impossible.
6 WOULD LOVE TO: Shin

Dragon Ball started as a series about eccentric martial arts masters, but its scope has expanded to not just leave the Earth’s orbit but also reach unheard celestial plateaus. All of the Kai that have appeared are powerful, but Shin, the Supreme Kai for Universe 7 stands out. He stays firm with his beliefs while also carrying experience as a powerful fighter. Gohan gets to form a bond with Shin during his efforts to unlock the powers of the Z Sword, so it’d be nice to see them form a team and push this relationship further.
5 WOULD NEVER: Cell

For whatever reason Cell is a Dragon Ball Z villain that never seems to gain the same level of acclaim as Frieza, or even Buu, but he’s still an antagonist who accomplishes a great deal and helps trigger some of the biggest moments from the entire series.
Out of all of the Dragon Ball characters, it feels like Gohan is Cell's biggest rival. And even though Cell technically helped Gohan reach the milestone of Super Saiyan 2, that doesn’t mean that he’d jump at the chance to be his partner.
4 WOULD LOVE TO: Krillin

Gohan and Krillin have fought together on plenty of occasions and they’ve faced some truly deadly villains, but it’s always been a part of a much larger group of fighters. Gohan and Krillin have never gone on missions that are just the two of them and there’s a lot of potential in both their comparable character dynamics and strength. This is another move that in many ways also feels like it could act as a tribute to Gohan’s father, so a team with Krillin also resonates in that capacity.
3 WOULD NEVER: Demon King Piccolo

Demon King Piccolo is a villain that Gohan never got to meet. It’s Goku who did battle against him, which in turn led to the birth of Piccolo. If Demon King Piccolo were to somehow end up back in the series it feels like this character would only act as a reminder of Piccolo’s evil roots. For this reason, both Gohan and Piccolo would likely be repulsed by the character rather than want to work to reform him. There could be a certain fun in Gohan fighting with Piccolo’s ancestor, but it just doesn’t make sense in terms of story.
2 WOULD LOVE TO: Future Trunks

Future Trunks is a very popular character that many people didn’t think would return, but Dragon Ball Super features the time-displaced warrior along with other memorable characters from Dragon Ball Z. What’s so interesting about the dynamic between Gohan and Future Trunks is that this Gohan is nothing like the battle-hungry fighter that comes from Future Trunks’ timeline. In this sense, it’d be fascinating to see them fight together and perhaps Future Trunks could rub off on Gohan a little and boost his fighting spirit.
1 WOULD NEVER: Zamasu

Zamasu truly becomes one of the most dangerous villains throughout the course of Dragon Ball. He nearly puts an end to all mortals in the universe and doesn’t care who he has to hurt to achieve this. On top of everything, it just seems unlikely that Gohan would be able to forgive and work with an individual who steals his father’s body, commits crimes in his name, and kills Gohan in another timeline. There’s just too much heavy baggage between these characters in addition to Zamasu’s extremely stubborn will
