Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

The heroes of Dragon Ball might be awesome, but that doesn't mean they haven't had times where they've been pretty villainous.

Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

Within the Dragon Ball Universe, there are villains and heroes. However, there are times when the heroes' judgment becomes clouded due to certain circumstances beyond their control or otherwise. Be it to protect loved ones, stroke one's ego or just for one's own selfish needs, there are times where good people go down the wrong path.

Many heroes within this series have struggled with their inner demons or were just careless, and thus brought about some horrible outcomes that could have easily been averted if they just stayed true to themselves.

10 Gogeta

Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

During Vegeta and Goku's fight against Broly in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, it became apparent that they would not be able to defeat him as they were. Both fighters successfully fuse into Gogeta and were able to stand a chance against the berserker Saiyan. However, during this fusion, Vegeta is the more dominant half (unlike Vegito, in which Goku is the more dominant) and this causes the combined duo to act rather ruthlessly. In the end, Gogeta executes a very strong, massive Kame-hame-ha, one that would have killed Broly as well as destroyed the entire planet. At this point, the fused pair were more bloodthirsty than righteous and were no longer fighting to save the Earth, but to kill Broly.

9 Majin Vegeta

Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

Starting out as a villain himself, Vegeta has since redeemed himself and has become a member of the Z-Fighters. When he became controlled by Babidi due to him finding the evil in his heart, he got the power he yearned for so he could finally defeat his rival, Goku. Babidi warps Majin Vegeta, Goku, Gohan, and Supreme Kai to where the current World Tournament is taking place, and here, Vegeta tries to start a battle with Goku, who refuses. To coax his friend into fighting him, Majin Vegeta used the harsh tactic of killing thousands of innocents in the audience.

8 Buu

Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

Now a member of the Z-Fighters and a close friend to Mr. Satan, this was not always the case. In the beginning, under the control of Babidi and Bibidi, Buu was incredibly strong and took pleasure in causing mass destruction. However, his mind was so childlike that he just did what he was told to not be scolded by his master and he was simply not aware of the consequences of his actions. Buu later befriends Mr. Satan and makes a promise to stop killing others, however, he becomes so consumed by anger and fears he will lose control and repels the evil side of himself, quite literally. A grey colored, tall, and lanky Buu separates from him and is all of his evil personified.

7 Piccolo

Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

In the Garlic Jr. Saga, during the Z-Fighters battle against Garlic Jr. a Black Water Mist, a deadly venomous gas, is released upon them. Anyone who breathes it in becomes an evil, vampiric slave of Garlic Jr., Piccolo becomes infected and attacks Gohan. Reluctant to fight back against his mentor, Piccolo attacks to the point of almost killing him. Piccolo had to make this look genuine since he was indeed faking. Turns out that the mist did not affect due to Namekians being immune. He played along so that he could get close enough to Mr. Popo and Kami to free them.

6 Zamasu

Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

Although not a member of the Z-Fighters, Zamasu was in training to become a Kai and ultimately protect the universe. He was the apprentice of the Supreme Kai of Universe 10, Gowasu, in Dragon Ball Super. Originally calm and capable, he slowly turned evil. He began to despise mortals and thought that they had no place in the universe. After meeting Goku, this hatred only intensified. He gave in to this desires and murdered Gowasu, an incredibly heinous act. Yearning for Goku's god-like power, Zamasu makes a wish on the Super Dragon Balls to take control of Goku's body and make Goku's strength his own. The story just gets worse from there, being that within Goku's body, he murders his family in cold blood.

5 Mai

Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

In Dragon Ball, Mai was a member of the Pilaf gang under the command of Emperor Pilaf. The most ruthless and conniving of the gang was the one to do the Emperor's dirty work, along with her henchman, Shu.

She performed many heinous acts such as kidnapping, espionage, theft, and even attempted murder. As the series progressed, in Dragon Ball Super, Mai and Shu have since befriended the Z-Fighters and Mai became very close with Trunks.

4 Beerus

Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

Beerus may be an inherently evil God of Destruction, but he has since befriended the Z-Fighters to a certain extent. Attending social gatherings, mainly for the food, but also because he seems to genuinely enjoy being in their company. However, there are many times where Beerus' helpfulness, such as training Vegeta and Goku as well as babysitting, turns to malice and he shows his true nature. As a God, he has the unattainable power of destroying entire worlds with a flick of a finger and has said on multiple occasions that he doesn't destroy Earth solely because of the delicious cuisine. As an example, he erased half of a planet due to their food being too greasy.

3 Goku

Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

Goku has always been the savior of the universe and all-around nice guy, but there are times where he goes a little overboard in battle. For instance, during his fight against Kale and Caulifla in the Tournament of Power in Dragon Ball Super. There were times where Goku acted a bit uncharacteristic, with Caulifla and Kale being Super Saiyans and Goku being Super Saiyan God, Goku saw that Caulifla was no match and proceeded to toy with her like a lion with its prey, all the while with a devious smirk on his face. Another instance within Dragon Ball Z, Majin Vegeta (possessed by Babidi) tries to coax Goku into fighting him to the death. The Supreme Kai forbids it but Goku remains resilient and even threatened the very life of the Kai. He also didn't seem to care that he was helping Babidi to awaken Buu, an unimaginable threat against the very thing Goku is to protect.

2 Gohan

Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

Being brought up as a genuinely good person by his parents, mostly Chi-Chi, Gohan has also done some messed up things. Since his father was not around for most of his childhood, Piccolo took it upon himself to train him in combat. During this time, beyond young Gohan's control, upon seeing the full moon, transformed into a mindless and insanely strong Great Ape, nearly killing Piccolo.

Another two instances where he killed or almost killed his friends and family, was his fights against Buu and Perfect Cell. Instead of ending the fights sooner, Gohan decided to make them both suffer instead of killing them. Both of these instances proved to be a mistake, in that not killing Buu made it so he could absorb Gotenks, becoming an even stronger threat. And in not killing Perfect Cell, giving him time to self destruct, forcing Goku to step in, teleporting both Cell and himself into space where they both were blown to pieces.

1 Androids 17 & 18

Dragon Ball 10 Times The Heroes Acted More Like Villains

During the Android Saga, the Future Androids were a huge threat to the planet. This sibling duo left nothing but death and destruction in their wake and brought the human race close to extinction if it wasn't for Future Trunks saving the day. Also, in the not canon Super 17 Saga in Dragon Ball GT, Android 17, now 'Super' due to his fusion with Hell Fighter 17, proceeds to defeat every Z-Fighter, even Super Saiyan 4 Goku. Of course, not counting GT, when Goku wishes everyone back who died from the Androids attack using the Dragon Balls, they too are brought back, however, now with a 'good heart'. They both have since joined the Z-Fighters and help to protect the Earth.
