Dragon Ball 10 Things Fans Need To Know About The Ginyu Force
The Ginyu Force are a peculiar group of underlings in Frieza's army. They are definately one of the most flamboyant viallins in Dragon Ball Z.

The Ginyu Force is one of the biggest and most powerful mercenary units to exist in the world of Dragon Ball. Through most of their service, they worked for the evil emperor Frieza and helped him to capture all sorts of planets as a part of his plans.
The Ginyu Force consisted of some of the strongest warriors in the entire Universe 7, such as Ginyu himself, and their strength was great enough to overwhelm most of the races that they clashed against. Here are 10 things you should know about the Ginyu Force from Dragon Ball.
10 Their Captain

As most Dragon Ball fans would know, Captain Ginyu was the leader of the Ginyu Force and he was also the strongest in their ranks. His power was much greater than that of his subordinates like Burter or Jeice, and his ability to switch bodies was also scary.
However, it must also be noted that Captain Ginyu himself was the right-hand man of Frieza, making him one of the most powerful people in the universe at the time of the Namek Saga in Dragon Ball Z. In time, he was surpassed by Goku and many other of his friends.
9 The Super Sentai Connection

The Ginyu Force appears to have been based on Super Sentai teams to some extent which is evident from the weird poses that they strike, and the roll-call they can often be seen doing. Just like the Super Sentai teams, they also possess some supernatural powers, making them special in their own way.
It is highly likely that the Ginyu Force is Akira Toriyama's way of depicting the Super Sentai teams in Dragon Ball, although with a tinge of parody to it. Nonetheless, they're quite powerful despite their goofy nature and those who underestimate them usually end up paying the price for it.
8 Their Naming

Akira Toriyama is known for his clever naming puns and the Ginyu Force are no exception to that. According to what we know, all the members of the Ginyu Force are named after some kind of dairy product. Their captain, Ginyu is named after the Japanese word for "milk," Jeice is named after "cheese" (English speaker may view it as "juice, but in Japan his name is Jheese), while Burter is named after "butter." Meanwhile, Recoome is derived from "creme," and Guldo is derived from "yogurt." Another member of the Ginyu Force who appears in the videogame Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, known as Bonyu, sees their name being derived from "breast milk."
7 The Recruitment Order

Captain Ginyu, being the leader of the Ginyu Force, was the one who recruited the members of this mercenary squad, starting from none other than Bonyu. After her, we got to see Jeice join the force, and thanks to his magnificent strength, he was even made the sub-captain of the Ginyu Force.
Following Jeice, Burter joined the force, who was soon followed by Recoome, one of the strongest in their ranks, and Guldo was the last one of the lot to join. Interestingly, Guldo was also the weakest of the lot.
6 Frieza And The Force

Being a force of mighty warriors, the Ginyu Force were feared throughout the universe during their time of service in Frieza's army. Since they were extremely powerful, believed to be second only to Frieza himself, the Ginyu Force were highly respected by even Frieza himself.
Consequently, they became the only ones in the Frieza Force who weren't looked down upon or disrespected by Frieza, even though he was vastly superior to each one of them. Unfortunately for Frieza, the Ginyu Force is no longer in service.
5 Their Abilities

The Ginyu Force members are all blessed with special abilities that made them capable fighters and worthy members of the Frieza Force. All of them possessed powers that made them stand out among the rest. For example, Guldo had incredible psychic abilities, while Recoome's endurance was known to be extremely high.
At the same time, Burter's speed made him one of the fastest beings in the universe, and Jeice's skill with Ki based attacks made him just as special as the others. Ginyu, their leader, was incredibly powerful, and he also had the special ability to switch bodies.
4 Their Childhood

The members of the Ginyu Force all had a very interesting childhood and at some point in it, they realized that they were blessed with special abilities that they later worked on.
Guldo was known to be very cunning as a kid, using his psychic powers to get what he wanted, while Burter became the fastest in the universe due to being scolded for not being punctual. Jeice played as a pitcher in the Galactic Little League and that's also where he developed his incredible ki based attacks, while Recoome practiced dances, which helped him with the agility. Finally, their leader, Captain Ginyu learned of his body-swapping abilities as a kid which he exploited to get what he wanted.
3 Their Power Level

When they were an active part of the story back during the Namek Saga, the Ginyu Force were known to be the strongest force in the entire universe. Among them, Guldo was known to be the weakest, physically speaking. Recoome, Jeice, and Burter had a similar power level, stated to be 40,000 or above. Their Captain, Ginyu, was known to be at the power level of 120,000.
Despite this, they were easily outclassed by Goku, who had trained incredibly hard on the way to Namek. As the series went on, several other characters who were stronger than them made their appearance.
2 Their Headquarters

As seen in the Dragon Ball series, the Ginyu Force have their headquarters located on Planet Frieza 79. For their ease, they have Frieza's soldiers helping them out, mostly with logistics.
Furthermore, they also help the Ginyu Force when it comes to launching during a mission to capture another planet or when they're needed by Frieza himself, as seen during the Namek Saga of Dragon Ball Z. It is unknown what exactly became of Planet Frieza 79 after Ginyu Force was destroyed, but we hope to get some details on that in the future.
1 Ginyu Force And Vegeta

The Ginyu Force clashed against Vegeta on Planet Namek and although they got the better of him initially, Vegeta saw to it that 4 out of 5 of their members fell at his hands. Even though Captain Ginyu himself survived the encounter with Vegeta, he was later killed by him in Dragon Ball Super.
According to Frieza, however, it was Goku who killed the Ginyu Force since he didn't believe Vegeta to be strong enough to defeat them at the time. Goku admitting to having defeated them only furthered his suspicions.
