Dragon Ball 10 Strangest Romances In The Franchise
Dragon Ball has many different romantic couples over the years, but these 10 are a bit odd.

While Dragon Ball is an anime focused on fights first and foremost, it makes an effort to explore other aspects of the human experience. Not only are there slice-of-life filler episodes following the characters and their attempts to live "normal" lives, but there are also episodes that follow their romantic pursuits.
Warriors like Gohan, Goku, Vegeta, and even Yamcha have all gotten into romances, and while fighting may come naturally to these guys, love often doesn't. Part of Dragon Ball's appeal is watching these otherwise invincible characters struggle to grasp the concept of relationships. But of course, this isn't helped by how strange some of these pairings are to begin with.
10 Launch & Tien

When Launch and Tien were first introduced in Dragon Ball, no one would've expected the two to end up in a "romance" together. When she first laid eyes on him, Launch was hooked, committed to following Tien as he traveled with Chiaotzu to continue his martial arts training.
This essentially made her one of the biggest third wheels in all of anime, since the only person Tien really seems to care about is Chiaotzu.
9 Panchy & Dr. Brief

It's no surprise Bulma's a genius, since her father, Dr. Brief, is the founder of Capsule Corporation. It's also no surprise that she puts a fair amount of care into her appearance given her mother, Panchy, doesn't look a day over 30 despite most likely being somewhere in her 50s.
Not only is it a bit strange that such a ditzy woman is married to the smartest man in the world, but it's hard to imagine that the two have much in common, besides their love for their pets that compelled them to stay in West City whenever their home was in danger.
8 Bikal & Kakunsa

During the Tournament of Power, when Android 17 managed to throw Kakunsa of Universe 2's Kamikaze Fireballs off the ring, her winged teammate, Bikal, swooped in to save her at the very last second, with Universe 2's God of Destruction and Supreme Kai brought to tears by their display of love.
Though their romance wasn't as fleshed out as some others, it's difficult to imagine Kakunsa, with her base form appearing more human than anything, falling in love with Bikal who, though she is anthropomorphic, looks a lot like an evil winged demon. Their romance felt more comical than purposeful and clearly wasn't strong enough to protect them from Android 17.
7 Chi-Chi & Goku

In most cases, Dragon Ball characters have gotten into romances because they want to. In Goku's case, it almost seems like he's been forced to be with Chi-Chi. When the two first met, he agreed to marry her without even knowing what marriage was, and when she confronted him in the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament to make him fulfill his commitment, it felt forced, since he didn't even remember who she was during their brief scuffle. And while there's no doubt that he loves her, he continues to put his own interests above hers. This puts Chi-Chi in an awkward position of having to train him on how to be a proper husband.
She's constantly yelling at him like a disobedient child when he doesn't fulfill his familial responsibilities, and in one instance, she even forced him to get a license so her existence could be a bit closer to the norm. Still, it's odd that Chi-Chi wants a "normal" life when she and Goku live in the mountains, isolated from mainstream civilization. While Vegeta revealed that Saiyan men are programmed to like women with Chi-Chi's headstrong demeanor, it sometimes feels as though it's become a chore for either of these characters to remain in this relationship.
6 Krillin & Android 18

When Goku returned to Earth just in time for the 26th World Martial Arts Tournament, he asked the big question that many viewers had ever since they saw Krillin and Android 18 walking around with a child: how'd Krillin manage to have a baby with an android? Though he revealed that Android 18 was still mostly human, it's odd to think that Krillin is dating a woman who, in an alternate timeline, was destined to destroy the world.
The kiss that she first planted on his cheek all those years ago was peculiar as well since she was such a destructive being at that time. While Android 18 and Krillin do seem comfortable around one another, she's shown the capacity to be a bit tough on him, not only physically in their training, but verbally, not hesitating to berate her husband for his lack of strength despite the fact that her modifications have given her a huge edge over every other Earthborn warrior.
5 Towa & Mira

Towa, most famously known as one of the main antagonists of the Xenoverse videogame franchise, isn't much of a powerhouse on her own, which is why she created Mira, a warrior possessing DNA from some of the strongest fighters in the Dragon Ball world. While the two were great combat partners, no one would've imagined they'd also become romantic partners until it was revealed that they had a son named Fu.
It's a bit odd that Towa had a child with her own creation, but maybe her options for powerful suitors in the Demon Realm were just limited. If anything, at least she didn't have a child with Dabura, who was, as many fans may not know, her brother.
4 Baby & Bulma

In Dragon Ball GT, Baby did more than just steal Vegeta's body. After infecting most of the human race, he then went on to steal Vegeta's wife, who he dubbed as his queen. This was due to Vegeta's original affection for Bulma.
She might've been under Baby's control, but it was still strange to see Bulma getting so cozy with a villain who didn't really resemble Vegeta much despite inhabiting his body.
3 Majin Buu & Miss Buu

According to popular games like Dragon Ball Online and Xenoverse, Majin Buu, after reading an adult book, wanted to experience love for himself, giving birth to Miss Buu, who split from him in the same way Evil Buu had so many years ago. The two then went on to create a child, which eventually resulted in the birth of the entire Majin race.
As if Towa wasn't already strange enough for procreating with her own creation, Majin Buu takes the cake for procreating with his own creation that actually spawned from his body.
2 Trunks & Mai

Compared to many other Dragon Ball couples, Trunks and Mai are one of the best. Not only did they stand together against Goku Black, but Mai was already a welcomed member of Trunks' family. As shown in Dragon Ball Super, the two met as children, making them akin to high school sweethearts, although longtime Dragon Ball fans might be disturbed when they think about the fact that in actuality, Mai has been alive for over 40 years.
When Goku was a young boy, she was already a grown woman, but a wish gone wrong with the Dragon Balls reverted her to a state of infancy around the time Trunks was born. Legally, she and Trunks are allowed to be in a relationship, but it's a bit odd that Trunks is dating someone who's been on Earth for as long as his mother has.
1 Tarble & Gure

When Tarble is first introduced in the OVA "Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!!", his aversion to fighting already established him as a non-traditional Saiyan. When he introduced his wife, Gure, a tiny alien woman who doesn't look anything like a Saiyan woman, it solidified the fact that Tarble was just of a different breed than his brother.
Tarble and Gure's romance hasn't been expanded on, but the differences in their appearances are enough for this relationship to be one of the strangest in the series. From the differences in their heights to how their children might end up looking, this relationship only gets weirder the more you ponder its specifics.
