Goku from Dragon Ball been a lot of things to different people. He's the galaxy's strongest martial artist, the defender of the earth, the arch-enemy of Frieza, etc. But, most people know him as "the worst father of all time." Since Gohan was born, Goku has been killed, sacrificed his life for the safety of the earth, given his children the confidence to take on any challenge, and even saved their lives on multiple occasions.

10 Change Piccolo's mind

So many people love to say that Piccolo is Gohan's dad. The big green babysitter spent a year with a boy, training so that he could be prepared to fight against the Saiyans. While he was still a villain, the "son" of Goku slowly warmed his way into Piccolo's heart and got him to turn over a new leaf.

Now, everyone loves to make jokes about how much of a better dad Piccolo is than Goku, and even he believes it. You can do your best to change his mind, but Namekians are pretty stubborn.

9 Aang knows the feeling

After Aang liberated the world from the Fire Nation, he settled down with Katara and had three children. While Aang tried his best to be a good father to Tenzin and his siblings, it wasn't easy, especially since Aang had to continue his duty as keeper of the piece and preserve the Air Nomad traditions.

Because of this, Aang had to travel a lot and spent most of his time with Tenzin, sculpting him in Aang's image. Goku and Aang may want to hang and exchange some stories.

Gohan has been living with his father for years, just like any kid. The man has raised him to know the difference between good and evil and gave him nothing but love and affection.

Despite all the battles Goku partook, people still give him crap for being such a horrible father. Well, how about you go off and save the universe on hundreds of occasions and fight against flamboyant villains from across the cosmos for a few decades. Everyone's favorite Saiyan dad deserves a break from it all. Hell, he should get a statue in honor of saving everyone.

5 Does all that training mean nothing?

When you think about it, Gohan only spent a few months with Piccolo. Sure, He got the former demon king to turn good, but he didn't spend nearly as much time as he did with Goku. Goku trained with Gohan twice (one of those occasions was a year inside the time chamber), waited for him to become "Mystic," believed that he could defeat Cell when no one thought he could, saved him from Frieza, ignored the laws of other world to punch Bojack in the face and even gave Gohan a chance to stay with his family during the Tournament of Power... Wait, why do people think Goku's a bad dad?

4 He ain't your Daddy

Goku has done a lot for Gohan. Aside from saving the world to keep his son and wife safe, he knocked up Chi-Chi... Uh, he trained with him to become a Super Saiyan, which involved blasting him with a large Kamehameha beam...

Okay, so Goku isn't going to win any "Father of the Year" awards. Say what you will about Piccolo, but he seems to be much more emotionally attached to Gohan than Goku. The guy was more worried about Gohan when he was getting a bear hug from Cell.

3 Fight my dad and me

There's no great force in the Universe than the power of a father and son working together. During there training for the Tournament of Power, Gohan and his dad decided to take on Tien and his friends, Goku. Oh, we're sorry, you thought that Goku was Gohan's dad?

Yeah, who saved the boy when Nappa was about to blast him into Other World? Also, remind us who admitted that he couldn't defeat Cell, but an eleven-year-old boy could? That's what we thought.

2 That's not my job

Goku and King Vegeta may not have met, but the two do have something in common. They're both deadbeat dads who had others do the job of parenting. The King of the Saiyan Race had one of his higher-ranking officers with a Mohawk to watch over Vegeta, while Goku let a green alien that shot him in the heart to look after Gohan.

Seriously, does anyone not remember the beating Piccolo gave Goku during the World Tournament? It makes perfect sense to let that guy near a four-year-old.

1 Goku's Sacrifice

You know, if anyone has an excuse for not being there for his son, it's Goku. The guy has given his life twice to save the world against the likes of Raditz and Cell. Sure, he wasn't there for eight years of his son's life and missed the first few years of Goten's life, but the guy does all this stuff so that no one can hurt his family.

So, don't come to us saying that Goku's a bad father when he GAVE HIS LIFE to defend the earth and everyone that lives there, including his WIFE AND KIDS.
