Dragon Ball FighterZ Season 3 Trailer Reveals Two New Characters

Dragon Ball FighterZ has announced two new characters for Season 3: Ultra Instinct Goku and Kefla. Ultra Instinct Goku had already been confirmed for the game, but Kefla was a surprise for fans. Season 3 will have a total of five new characters, but the other three have not been confirmed at this time.

There have been several new characters added into Dragon Ball FighterZ as DLC. The standard game only comes with 21 characters- three of which must be unlocked while playing the game. The first season introduced eight fighters, including fan favorites like Cooler, Broly, and Android 17. Season 2, on the other hand, added fewer characters with only 6 new additions. To offset this the price of the season 2 pass was decreased to make up for less content.

Bandai Namco has released a Season 3 trailer showing off Ultra Instinct Goku and announcing Kefla for Dragon Ball FighterZ. During the course of the video, viewers will see Goku power up into Ultra Instinct and shows off what his most powerful form can do. Halfway through the video though, a new character slot gets added to the Season 3 lineup, and then Kefla is revealed. Season 3 will be released on February 28th of 2020 and Kefla will be available day and date with the expansion pass. Meanwhile, Ultra Instinct Goku is expected sometime in the Spring of this year. At the moment there is no official announcement on how much the season pass will cost.

Kefla is a relatively new character to the Dragon Ball Z franchise and one that many fans may not be familiar with. Kefla did not appear in the anime until 2017 in Japan and 2019 in the United States. Kefla is actually a fusion made up of the characters Kale and Caulifla using the Potara earrings. Kefla is quickly revealed to be one of the most powerful beings in the universe and, in her Super Saiyan 2 form, the anime implied that she outmatched even Goku in raw power.

Dragon Ball Z has an impressively large back catalog of characters that they can use in their games. If Bandai Namco decided to add in every fighter from the anime and manga there would most likely be several hundred characters for players to choose from. This makes FighterZ's amount of characters look tiny in comparison. However, this title has chosen instead to only pick the strongest and most interesting characters, and it is little surprise that some consider it to be the best Dragon Ball Z video game. With the announcement of such a powerful character like Kefla, it's a wonder what else Dragon Ball FighterZ has in store.
