Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC Is A Fourth Fighters Pass Coming

Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC Is A Fourth Fighters Pass Coming

Super Baby 2 and Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta have been announced as the last DLC characters of Dragon Ball FighterZ's third FighterZ Pass, but what's next?

Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC Is A Fourth Fighters Pass Coming

With the announcements of Super Baby 2 and Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta as the game's fourth and fifth DLC characters, Dragon Ball FighterZ's third FighterZ Pass has come to an end. While Super Baby 2 doesn't release until January 15th, and Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta still doesn't have a release date, all five characters DLC characters have been revealed, effectively finishing up the game's third season of downloadable content. The question stands, though, what's next for FighterZ and will there be another season of DLC characters?

A fourth season of DLC would be welcomed by all FighterZ fans. Although the game's roster is starting to fill up, there are still tons of characters from the Dragon Ball universe to pull from. FighterZ has only just started dipping their toes into the Dragon Ball GT pool and characters like Omega Shenron and Uub would be welcomed additions to the roster. Excluding GT, there are multiple universes filled with characters from Dragon Ball Super that have still gone mostly unexplored. There are also plenty of iconic characters from the films and the original Dragon Ball series that would make great additions to the game, so it's not like Bandai Namco is short on options for a fourth season.

The FighterZ community is still very active with a passionate fan base. The game is still receiving regular updates and under went a complete overhaul on DBFZ character assists not too long ago. The desire for more characters is definitely there among fans of the game, but it really comes down to what comes next after Dragon Ball FighterZ. Have plans for a sequel already begun or will Bandai Namco continue feeding this ravenous fanbase with more content?

Dragon Ball FighterZ 2 Could Prevent a Fourth FighterZ Pass

Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC Is A Fourth Fighters Pass Coming

With the release of the newest generation of gaming consoles, it's only a matter of time until a new FighterZ game hits the PlayStation 5 or the Xbox Series X, but what form that game takes will likely decide if there is a fourth FighterZ Pass. The eventual sequel to FighterZ is something that has been discussed by fans, but never mentioned by Bandai Namco. Considering the immense popularity of Dragon Ball FighterZ, and overall franchise, a sequel would make a lot of sense with the newest consoles now available. However, Bandai could elect to take a quicker, more inclusive route to getting a FighterZ game on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.

Rather than taking the time to develop a sequel for the newest consoles, Bandai could instead elect to release a fourth FighterZ Pass as well as a definitive edition of the game, with all of the downloadable content, for new consoles. This would allow Bandai to continue profiting off of copies of FighterZ on last generation consoles, while also profiting off the newest ones. This way, Bandai maintains the massive FighterZ community, while also capitalizing on the newest consoles without alienating any fans, like those who cannot afford (or find) consoles like the PlayStation 5. The nice thing about releasing a definitive edition for new consoles is there's nothing preventing Bandai from developing an eventual FighterZ sequel. This would let them have their cake and eat it too.

While the future of the FighterZ series is a topic worth discussion, it's still a bit premature to be looking that far ahead into the future. Super Baby 2 won't release until January 15th, and Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta doesn't even have a release date yet. Fans can rest assured, for the time being, that more Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC content is on the way, but after that, it's anyone's guess.
