Dragon Ball 5 Characters Kale Can Defeat (& 5 Shed Lose To)
Kale is a complex character who is quite strong, but far from invincible when it comes to the other characters in Dragon Ball’s large world.

There are plenty of anime series that have made their mark on the industry, but few have demonstrated the level of resilience and success that’s followed the Dragon Ball franchise. Akira Toriyama’s series has grown in tremendous ways since its debut and it’s remarkable to see the strength that Goku and other characters have achieved by the end of Dragon Ball Super.
The latest Dragon Ball anime has introduced new universes that are full of exciting and new characters, with Universe 6’s Kale and her fellow Saiyans being chief among them. Kale is a complex character who is quite strong, but far from invincible when it comes to the other characters in Dragon Ball’s large world.
10 Can Defeat: Tien Is Exceptional For A Human, But Pales In Comparison To Kale

One of the most exciting developments in Dragon Ball Super is that the Tournament of Power has Goku scout the world for the best and strongest fighters. This allows for characters that have since fallen out of favor, like Tien, to return and once again gain relevancy.
Tien is one of Earth’s absolute strongest humans, but his strength is still a fraction of what Kale can achieve in just her basic Super Saiyan form. Tien may be more battle savvy, but when pushed into a corner Kale is able to instinctively persevere.
9 Would Lose To: Broly Would Use Kale’s Own Trick Against Her

A battle between Kale and Broly would be extremely interesting since Kale’s introduction in Dragon Ball Super felt like the anime’s way to incorporate an equivalent to the movie character. Kale functions like Universe 6’s Broly equivalent, especially because of her Super Saiyan Berserk upgrade, which mirrors his own Legendary Super Saiyan transformation.
For this reason, it would be a pretty close fight, but in the end, Broly’s base form has more instinct and aggression than Kale’s timidity. They’re both introverted in similar ways, but Broly is just a little better.
8 Can Defeat: Cell Is A Deadly Villain That Would Tremble At Kale’s Power

Many villains in the Dragon Ball universe have been given second chances to attack the heroes, but Cell is a powerful enemy that has never returned in a substantial capacity. Cell isn’t just very strong, but he has a wide arsenal of abilities. However, a rookie Super Saiyan 2 was able to easily defeat him.
Kale has gained this skill and pushed it even further and even if this wasn’t enough then her Super Saiyan Berserk form would get the job done. It’s possible that Cell has gotten stronger since the Cell Saga days, but it’s never been explored.
7 Would Lose To: Frieza’s Improved Skills Would Be Too Much For Kale

Frieza is a Dragon Ball antagonist that’s returned in numerous capacities and hasn’t just gained new and powerful transformations, but has even turned into a reluctant ally for Goku and company during the Tournament of Power.
In this context, Kale and Golden Frieza are able to encounter one another. Frieza is intimidated by Kale’s Super Saiyan Berserk form, but it’s too unstable, whereas Frieza is someone that’s always plotting many moves ahead. Frieza is just too much of a cockroach and he’d find ways to survive and outlast Kale.
6 Can Defeat: Kale’s Saiyan Strength Is Enough To Overwhelm Android 18

Dragon Ball Super does some exceptional work with both Androids 17 and 18 and brings them back together as a team in the Tournament of Power. As a team, these two might be able to take out Kale, but it’s still unclear and Android 18 on her own definitely wouldn’t be enough to finish the job.
18 might be a more resourceful and aggressive fighter, but Kale’s Super Saiyan Berserk transformation is enough to even give Goku and Vegeta pause. It’d likely be a messy and aggressive fight, but Kale would be pushed to become the victor.
5 Would Lose To: Kale’s Strongest Tricks Still Aren’t Enough For Jiren

Dragon Ball Super features some very powerful fighters from multiple universes in the Tournament of Power and both Kale and Jiren are some of the select few in the top percentile. Jiren turns out to be one of the final opponents and he’s able to give Golden Frieza and even Goku in his Ultra Instinct form difficulty.
If these combinations aren’t strong enough to defeat Jiren then Kale isn’t going to accomplish it either, even in her Berserk form. Jiren is strong enough to withstand her attacks, but also can evade her in speed.
4 Can Defeat: Gohan’s Lack Of Training Allows Kale To Surpass Him

Dragon Ball’s handling of Gohan from the later chapters of Dragon Ball Z and onward is quite frustrating for those that were expecting him to replace Goku as the anime’s protagonist. Gohan still receives powerful upgrades, like the Mystic/Ultimate boost and even though he becomes Universe 7’s leader in the Tournament of Power, he still remains a supporting player.
Accordingly, Kale’s training is more recent and she’s in tune with her Saiyan powers. Super Saiyan 2 Kale might not beat Gohan, but her Berserk transformation absolutely would and likely even scare Gohan, too.
3 Would Lose To: Goku Helped Kale Grow Stronger And Has Bested Her Before

When Kale and the rest of Universe 6’s Saiyans first appear, Goku is delighted to teach these individuals the basics and he helps them quickly climb the Super Saiyan ladder of transformations. Goku is certainly surprised by Kale’s Super Saiyan Berserk transformation and it’s able to keep up with him in his Super Saiyan Blue form.
Kale’s transformation mostly leaves Goku on the defensive, but over time he learns how she operates and is able to gain the upper hand. Goku has only grown stronger since their last fight, whereas it’s uncertain if Kale has learned any new tricks.
2 Can Defeat: Piccolo’s Brilliance Isn’t Enough For Kale’s Latent Rage

Piccolo remains a smart fighter until the end of Dragon Ball’s run, but unfortunately, his immense Namekian skills still don’t match up to raw Saiyan aggression. Piccolo is a confident and clever fighter and he could handle Kale in her base form, but beyond that, he’d be struggling.
Piccolo has versatile skills, but Super Saiyan Berserk Kale is the perfect strategy for this kind of situation where Kale’s brain can ostensibly get shut off and she just operates off of aggression and power. It’s the opposite of Kale’s regular behavior and enough to push Piccolo out of his comfort zone.
1 Would Lose To: God Of Destruction Beerus Is On A Whole Other Level Than Kale

Kale has been able to prove herself as one of Universe 6’s strongest fighters and an impressive Saiyan in her own right. The brute strength that Kale is able to tap into is often enough to overwhelm most of her opponents, but someone like Beerus, a God of Destruction, is a celestial entity that wouldn’t even consider Kale a threat.
Goku in Ultra Instinct mode is still not enough for Beerus and Kale isn’t anywhere near that level. Additionally, if Beerus ever felt truly threatened then he could just use Hakai and erase Kale for existence.
