Dragon Ball 5 Characters Goku Would Love To Teamup With (& 5 He Never Would)
Even a guy as nice as Goku doesn't get along with everyone. There are some characters he'd love to team-up with, and others he probably never would.

There are all sorts of shonen anime that have debuted over time that specialize in incredibly powered fighters that face off against even more unbelievable strength. Dragon Ball has become one of the crowning examples of this and it's always entertaining to see how Goku manages to become stronger and overcome greater threats.
Something that's so unique about Goku is that despite the danger that he faces, he's still someone who looks for the best in others and is quick to turn an enemy into an ally. There are many people who Goku would love to team up with in a fight, but there are also many where an alliance would be a disaster.
10 Would Love To: Android 17

Androids 17 and 18 are too of the biggest comeback stories throughout Dragon Ball Z. These destructive machines properly rehabilitate themselves and 17 in particular proves to be a major player throughout the Tournament of Power. Goku has only grown to respect Android 17 more over time and his performance in the Tournament of Power is enough to inspire Goku to properly commit a team mission with him. They've helped each other out in smaller capacities, but an attack that's just the two of them would be so much fun.
9 Would Never: Dr. Gero

There’s perhaps some scenario where Goku and Dr. Gero could work together, but it'd require a fair bit of ignorance on Goku's behalf. Gero hasn't just held a lifelong grudge against Goku, but he's even still plotting against him beyond the grave in Dragon Ball GT. Considering that Gero is responsible for the Androids that kill many of Goku's friends, but also endanger the entire world, this means that an alliance between them is ultimately unlikely. Some of Goku’s team-ups feel particularly surprising, but this is one of the few that would come across as a real betrayal.
8 Would Love To: Monaka

One of the strangest running jokes throughout Dragon Ball Super is that Beerus has effectively fooled Goku to believe that mild-mannered delivery worker, Monaka, is actually one of the strongest fighters in Universe 7. Most people have learned the truth here, but not Goku.
As a result, it wouldn't be surprising to see Goku push for a mission alongside Monaka so they can both learn from each other. It'd be a very hilarious adventure where Goku would be stuck doing the bulk of the work and Monaka is just eager to stay alive.
7 Would Never: Cell

What's been so interesting to witness throughout the Dragon Ball series is that even though Cell is an opponent that's stronger than Frieza, Goku has actually teamed up with the latter on a few occasions. Frieza is so much more evil and vindictive that one would assume Goku could also bend his morality to also be able to fight with Cell. The fact that it's never happened is perhaps the most telling detail here. Cell is also a creature that exists purely for destruction and it's likely Goku doesn't want to indulge in that or risk another timeline getting destroyed.
6 Would Love To: Kefla

One of the most exciting developments throughout Dragon Ball Super is that the introduction of new universes has brought with it many more Saiyans. Universe 6's Kale and Caulifla fuse into Kefla and she becomes one of the strongest fighters in the Tournament of Power who can even briefly last against Goku's unmastered Ultra Instinct. Goku is seriously impressed with Kefla's raw strength and it makes sense that he'd want to train with her, whether it's to improve his own strength or help teach them more about the Saiyan race.
5 Would Never: Kid Buu

Dragon Ball Z faces some difficulties with the advent of increasing stronger and stronger villains. The series culminates with Kid Buu, which becomes such a substantial threat that he actually succeeds in the genocide of the human race.
Curiously, Goku has fought alongside Good Buu and Uub on several occasions, but it's unlikely he'd give Buu's pure evil form the same respect. Buu has done too much damage to those that Goku loves and he's also a deeply insane creature, which means standard teamwork with him would be a mess.
4 Would Love To: Beerus

Beerus is introduced as the first major threat within Dragon Ball Super and even though he nearly destroys Earth, he's still become one of the planer's greatest allies over time. Beerus may not like to admit it, but he's actually unofficially worked with Goku on many occasions to make sure the universe remains in balance. Beerus hints at a whole new plateau of power and Goku would easily relish the opportunity to travel the galaxy as he picks up lessons from this God of Destruction and improves his own talents. They're the ultimate odd couple in a lot of ways.
3 Would Never: Baby

Baby is a unique villain in the sense that Goku would perhaps find the most joy in rehabilitating him. He's a member of the Tuffle race who still holds great resentment towards the Saiyans for everything that they did to their planet. Baby is a major threat in Dragon Ball GT and he doesn't just infect most of those that Goku holds dear, but he's the type of reckless tyrant who would never be able to reach a compromise with Goku. Baby's idea of a team-up would involve him possessing Goku's body, which he's not going to let happen.
2 Would Love To: Broly

Broly has been traditionally been depicted as a villain throughout Dragon Ball, but he's also a victim in many ways. Dragon Ball Super: Broly attempts to provide the definitive Broly narrative and the movie ends with a poignant exchange between Goku and Broly. There's clear respect between them and it feels like their story isn't over yet. Goku seems determined to make Broly into one of the good guys. It'd be a drastic shift, but it'd also be a lot of fun to see Broly occasionally show up for the bigger battles in the series.
1 Would Never: Zamasu

Goku has faced dozens of evil threats throughout Dragon Ball, but Zamasu is a villain that feels particularly vicious and like he hurts Goku in a personal way. For one, Zamasu steals the body of a Goku from another timeline and he also kills his family. Zamasu is too big and dangerous of a threat to trust and although Goku exhibits moments of naivety with most of his opponents, it never happens with Zamasu. Goku understands that Zamasu just wants to wipe out mortals and doesn't care what gets destroyed in the process.
