Dragon Ball 10 Things About Krillin That Make No Sense

Krillin is one of the most powerful humans in the Dragon Ball universe, but there are plenty of things about him that make no sense.

Of all the main cast of characters in the Dragon Ball franchise, Krillin is probably the guy who is most misunderstood. In a series where the main cast are spiky-haired aliens with the powers of gods, he is just a mere human--and a short bald human at that.

Despite this, Krillin is quite impressive, having been with the team since the early days when he and Goku were just children. He is one of the strongest people on earth and has defeated powerful opponents time and again. Over the years, some questions about him have emerged. Here are ten things about Krillin that make absolutely no sense.

10 His Height

Krillin is an adult human male. The "adult" part of that can seem pretty unbelievable at times given he is the approximate height of a saibaman. There is no canonical explanation for him to be so short. He is not a little person, nor does have any magical or medical reasons to be this tiny.

It can get a bit confusing to try and estimate just how short he is, as artistic changes between series have impacted his size, but Krillin is inexplicably tiny for a grown man. Thankfully, his attacks pack a big punch.

9 No Nose

As a human being, there are certain biological aspects Krillin is expected to have: things like organs, eyeballs, a mouth, ears, and a nose. To be fair, he has most of these. But a close examination of his face may reveal one key feature is missing: his nose.

Goku is an alien Saiyan, but he has a nose. Piccolo is Namekian, not even a humanoid species of alien, but he has a nose. Other humans like Yamcha, Bulma, and Master Roshi all have noses, but for some reason, Krillin seems to lack one.

8 His Strength Level

Krillin may very well be the strongest human being on the planet. He has definitely worked hard to achieve this, training with Master Roshi from early childhood and sparring with Goku to prepare for battles. However, there is no reason for him to be as strong as he is.

Krillin's Destructo Disc is so powerful he drew Nappa's blood with it and possibly could have beheaded the Saiyan had Vegeta not alerted Nappa to duck at the last minute, That was way back during the events of the Vegeta Saga. Since then, Krillin has gotten a lot stronger.

7 Android 18

It is said that love is blind. This is the only explanation for why a knockout like Android 18 and a short bald noseless guy like Krillin ended up romantically entangled.

Everyone deserves to find love, including this unlikely pair, but it really is a case of opposites attracting one another. The fact that the two began as enemies determined to kill each other makes this pairing even more unlikely, as does the fact that Krillin mistakenly thought her twin brother Android 17 was her lover. Despite how weird it is, the two genuinely love each other and have made things work out pretty well.

6 Marron

Marron is Krillin's daughter that he had with Android 18. Biologically, it is rather surprising that the two of them could have a kid together. While Android 18 was born a human being and turned into an android through cybernetic augmentation, she is not a mere cyborg but an android--a robot that is designed to look like a human.

That the two could procreate is nothing short of miraculous considering how Android 18 was basically turned into a human-shaped tank.

5 Inconsistent Baldness

Krillin's look has changed a lot over the years, though he is most often known for his practically nonexistent height, the six moxibustion dots on his forehead, and being chronically bald. Despite having less hair than a Namekian for most of the series, he grows his hair out later on and eventually even grows a mustache.

Technically, Krillin is not genetically prone to baldness but shaves his head like a monk. However, there are periods that his dome is smooth as a Hoi-Poi Capsule's outer casing when it seems unlikely that he'd have time to shave.

4 Why He Hangs Out With Kid Gohan

While Krillin might look a lot like the average nine year old, he is still technically an adult (and far more mature than a lot of the adults in Dragon Ball Z). There is a long period of time where Goku is dead and Krillin spends his time hanging out with Gohan, who is still a prepubescent child.

At times, Krillin definitely comes across as a bit of a mentor to Gohan, but there are other times that the two seem to just be pals hanging out, which is, frankly, a bit weird.

3 How He Bought Adult Magazines As A Child

Master Roshi was once the greatest martial artist in the world. He trained Goku and Krillin, enabling both to reach their potential and become incredibly strong at a young age. As most fans know, Roshi's greatest weakness is that he is a total pervert.

Knowing this, Krillin acquired some magazines for his martial arts instructor. However, given his young age, one has to wonder how Krillin was able to acquire them. Perhaps his version of earth has different age requirements for buying such things.

2 Becoming An Officer

One cannot go on fighting forever. Eventually, age catches up and takes its toll. Krillin understands this. He eventually retired from life as a warrior, settling down with his family and getting a day job.

Strangely, he became a police officer. There is next to nothing in his backstory to indicate he would enjoy life as an officer, nor did he ever seek such work. Given his amazing abilities and his monastic inclinations early in life, it seems like he would go a different route for his career.

1 How Often He's Underestimated

Krillin is very possibly the strongest human alive. Other powerful humans like Yamcha and Yajirobe can't even begin to keep up with him in a fair fight. He has bled a Saiyan, fought Frieza's goons, and once he even had a chance to kill Vegeta (though Goku stopped him).

Despite this, people continually underestimate him. No matter how many people he beats, Krillin is treated like a total weakling. This usually works to his advantage, but at the same time, it seems unlikely that his reputation as a fearsome warrior isn't known after everything he's done.
